Apple Pressing Day

Sunday 12th October 2025   11am to 4pm

We hope you can join us for our annual apple pressing day. We have a bumper crop this year!

The day will include-

  • Picking apples from our orchard (you are welcome to bring your own too!)
  • Pressing to make delicious, fresh juice to take home
  • Activity for all the family – make your own apple bird feeder
  • Tea and Coffee
  • Cake sale – all proceeds go to the maintenance of our beautiful nature reserve

We look forward to seeing those of you who can make it!

🌼Molly’s Wood Spring Get Together 🌼

Sunday 13th April – 11am-4pm

Join us for tea, homemade treats and to break ground on the site for the new outdoor classroom, funded by Braintree District Council!

There will be lots to keep us busy: Groundwork for the new outdoor classroomPainting to the cabin windowsMaking new benches to go around the campfire – Putting protection around the fruit trees

The whole family are welcome, we will have a vegetable-growing activity for the little ones that they can take home with them.

We will also have a stall selling handmade ceramics and second hand books to raise money to support the maintenance of Molly’s Wood, so don’t forgot to bring some change with you!

☃️ Molly’s Wood Winter Get Together ☃️

Saturday 7th December- 2pm-6pm

Join us for mulled wine, mulled apple juice and mince pies. We will have a stall with homemade gifts and decorations for sale and when the sun sets we will light the bonfire🔥 – carol singing welcome

All are welcome ☃️🎄❄️

Saturday 19th October – 11am-4pm

Join us for tea, cake and a catch up!

There will also be lots of opportunity to help maintain our beautiful nature reserve by getting your hands dirty!

Family Fun Day

Monday 27th May – 11am-4pm

We are collaborating with 1st Castle Hedingham Scouts to put on a day full of fun activities on May Bank Holiday Monday.

There will be something for everyone, like trying your hand at wood turning, taking part in a nature trail or simply indulging in a cake or two!

We look forward to seeing you there.

Apple Pressing Day

23rd September 2023   11am to 4pm

The apple trees in Molly’s Wood are laiden with fruit so we are planning an apple pressing day.

Do come and join us, you can bring your own apples or pick some from the orchard.  You will need :

1.  Containers to put the juice in

2.  Chopping board as the apples will need to be quartered 

3.  A knife to cut the apples.

If you want to make a day of it and join in with some maintenance,  jobs you would be most welcome.   You’ll need gardening gloves and secateurs or lopppers.

Don’t forget to bring a basket to collect berries there should be plenty of blackberries waiting to be picked.

Finally we are planning to have a fundraising table with some hand made pots and other bits for sale that might make the perfect gift for someone, so do bring some loose change.

Working Party / Social

23rd April 2023   10am to 4pm

We are organising a work/social event on Sunday 23rd April at Molly’s Wood.  Everyone is most welcome.  It will be an opportunity to meet other members, neighbours and the Molly’s Wood committee and join us for a cup of tea and homemade cake.  We would also be interested to hear of any ideas for improving Molly’s Wood, events you might like to be involved in or workshops you would find of interest that could be run at the woods.

We are also planning to use the day to do some clearing and general maintenance including rebuilding the lean-to behind the shed by the pond, which is collapsing.  If you are up for some physical work please bring any tools you have with you, especially spades and loppers.

We so hope you will join us and do bring any friends or neighbours with you who you think may be interested in being involved with Molly’s Wood or who just fancy a day out.  The more the merrier.

Fire Choir (RESCHEDULED)

Wednesday 27th October 8pm-10pm

Join us for an evening of singing around the fire at Molly’s Wood.

We are providing refreshments so don’t forget your own mug!

£5 suggested donation with all proceeds going towards helping maintain Molly’s Wood.

Everyone is welcome! We hope to see you there!

Bulb Planting

Saturday 20th November 1-3pm.
and
Sunday 21st November 9-11am

A few hundred bulbs have been donated to Molly’s Wood and need to be planted, Please join us this weekend if you fancy getting involved. Any help is gratefully received and everyone is welcome,

Please wrap up warm and bring any spades/trowels/bulb planting widgets you may have!


Apple Pressing Day

Children love this activity, they get very sticky and have loads of juice to take home!

Anyone with apples can bring them to be juiced, just remember to cut them up at home, or you are welcome to help us pick some of the apples from the orchard in Mollys Wood. Don’t forget to bring a containers, cleaned milk or water bottles work well, so you can take some juice home!

Everyone can enjoy some gorgeous fresh apple juice..nothing like it!
